How do you Stay Energized and Motivated?
Even the most motivated of individuals have those days where they just don’t want to work. However, it is essential in today’s competitive job market that we stay active, alert, and motivated with our work.
A lack of energy and motivation is something that’s bound to affect us at some point in our lives. Let’s face it, we’re only human and our “internal batteries” can sometimes run out. For many people, all it takes to regain their energy and motivation is a good night’s sleep or a weekend of rest and relaxation, but what if that’s not enough for you to get back on track? What if your mind still wants to curl up in a fetal position and take 5, the whole day, for a whole week?
If this is what’s happening to you right now, don’t worry, you’re not alone. In today’s fast paced world where people are driven harder to excel, please the boss, get that promotion, take the kids to school, achieve the 5 year goal and just make ends meet at home, more and more people are running out of gas before they even get to 40. So what then should you do to stay energized and motivated to achieve the success you so desire?
I asked this same question on my Facebook page and got a variety of responses from my followers.
Keith and Donna Copeland commented, “By building inspiration into my daily routine.”
LenaBjorna echoes the same sentiment, saying “By loving what I do and doing what I love!”
For Kim Mullette, it’s done “By focusing on the positives that happen each day and of course daily exercise is a must to stay focused all day!”
Here are some my tips tips on staying energized and motivated.
Stay away from negative people.
Pessimists look at the world in a negative light, and they have a way of drawing you in to do the same thing. Hanging out with such people is waste of your time and energy, so find people with optimistic ideals, who are happy, outgoing and actually fun to be with.
Work when you have the most energy.
You know how some people are morning persons? They often function best during the morning, but that doesn’t mean you’re the same. So try as much as you can to schedule your work when you’re most energetic so you actually feel productive and fulfilled.
Exercise
Getting physically active is not only healthy, it also improves your overall mood and disposition. Regular exercise results in the frequent release of endorphins in your body, which have a way of boosting your mood.
Surround yourself with motivated, goal-oriented people
You got to make your sure your team is a positive one, and focus your time with people who bring a motivated ,animated influence to your environment.
Personally speaking, I believe there is no right or wrong way to staying energized and motivated, so long as it doesn’t hurt you and those around you, then go for it! If one method works for you, then stick to it, even other people find it strange. For example, one person I know energy in a daily 10 kilometre run around her neighbourhood, while another friend prefers to just lounge around listening to rock music.
I myself to stay energized, I Master the Power Nap
Taking a nap isn’t calling it quits on getting energized, it’s just it’s just running a quick defrag on your neural drive and rebooting.
and to stay motivated I alternate my routine. Nowdays, leaders or business people have a routine, for some it is a structured one and for others it’s a haphazard one but a routine nonetheless, Doing the same thing day in and day out is like starring in your own real-life version of Groundhog Day and what a sad thought that is. So if you have been doing the same routine over and over again perhaps try and change it slightly so that you can still look forward to something different each day.
Note that both techniques may not work for everyone, which means that you’ll have to do some experimentation yourself.
By taking the right approach to staying self-motivated, you can by certain to be successful no matter what you do.

Hi Easther,
I think being aware of the “dream stealers” or the negative people you mention is a big one to be mindful of.
Thanks for the reminder.

Hi Easther – great tips here on staying focused. This is such an important topic I think, because I know particularly with women, it’s a real struggle to stay focused and we tend to have emotional ups and downs more regularly than we’d like. We need all the help we can get and this article has some great strategies. Thanks.. x
HI Kim,
absolutely right, I myself sometime lose focus, it is important that you stay focus.
Thanks for dropping by Kim!
Awesome points, Easther. One of the things that I do to stay motivated is plug myself into a daily generic motivational call in the morning that is geared towards entrepreneurs and positive thinkers. It really helps a lot to kick start my day. I think everyone should be part of a mastermind group of people you can encourage one another.

Hi Easther,
I have to say that I read, or pray to get some quiet time to relax. Afterward I feel more at peace…and I love that peaceful feeling! Great post, Easther and it comes at a great time in my life to try to get the priorities straight. Thanks.

Hi Easther,
I find that surrounding myself with positive like minded people keeps me motivated. Talking with others who share the same struggles and triumphs is good for my mindset.
Reading personal development books keeps me motivated too. I find that a good quote can have the same effect on me. Here’s a quote I shared on Facebook today:
“People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing. That’s why we recommend it daily.” – Zig Ziglar

Well said, Sudharta! I thrive when I stick to a routine and suffer when I don’t. I do really well with a structure. That said, you’re right, the kind of routine that works for me may not work for you and vice-versa. I too recommend short afternoon naps for everyone. Can’t imagine without being physically active on any day. Free endorphins! Also, I make it a point to get off all routine once a week. Works like a charm. Cheers!

Hi Easther,
This is my first visit to your blog and I love this topic.
Let’s see, I’m naturally a very happy person but over the years I have learned to stop hanging around negative people. Luckily for me, I work at home so I don’t surround myself with those that can suck the life out of you.
I’m just high on life myself and I love what I do so that in itself keeps me motivated throughout my day. I do read personal development material every single day and I interact with other people who are just excited about where they are as well. I also walk everyday with my dog so I think with all of that combined that really keeps me going.
Thank you for sharing with us how others are staying motivated as well. It’s always good to learn what others are doing too.
Hope you’re enjoying your weekend.

I have to say my number one is working out!!! Just some form of getting up and moving!! When I find myself in serious goal hitting mode I also notice I get frustrated fast and sluggish. So every two hours NO MATTER WHAT I do something to get my body moving. Quick walk with the dog, workout video, some jumping jacks anything. Then I always feel a million times better.

Hi Val
absolutely, I used to have friends, that always think negatively when I was in High School she would tell me, “Easther with a score like this, it’s hard for you to get into Uni” I told her I really, and have to get into Uni. and you know, I got in to Monash University, one of the top best Uni In Australia, and you know what she didn’t get into Uni!
so yeah, I decided, stay away from her. it is crucial to stay away from all of those negative people.
Great post Easther, this is an area a lot, A LOT of people struggle with.
For me it always comes back to why I do what I do. Which is to create a financial wall around my family. I call this quality of life.
I will work my fingers to the bone for my family. Nothing else really matters.
Motivation has to come from within.
Everyone must find that reason, create a burning desire then go for it.
