energized and motivatedEven the most motivated of individuals have those days where they just don’t want to work. However, it is essential in today’s competitive job market that we stay active, alert, and motivated with our work.

A lack of energy and motivation is something that’s bound to affect us at some point in our lives. Let’s face it, we’re only human and our “internal batteries” can sometimes run out. For many people, all it takes to regain their energy and motivation is a good night’s sleep or a weekend of rest and relaxation, but what if that’s not enough for you to get back on track? What if your mind still wants to curl up in a fetal position and take 5, the whole day, for a whole week?

If this is what’s happening to you right now, don’t worry, you’re not alone. In today’s fast paced world where people are driven harder to excel, please the boss, get that promotion, take the kids to school, achieve the 5 year goal and just make ends meet at home, more and more people are running out of gas before they even get to 40. So what then should you do to stay energized and motivated to achieve the success you so desire?

I asked this same question on my Facebook page and got a variety of responses from my followers.

Keith and Donna Copeland commented, “By building inspiration into my daily routine.”

LenaBjorna echoes the same sentiment, saying “By loving what I do and doing what I love!”

For Kim Mullette, it’s done “By focusing on the positives that happen each day and of course daily exercise is a must to stay focused all day!”

Here are some my tips tips on staying energized and motivated.

  • Stay away from negative people.

Pessimists look at the world in a negative light, and they have a way of drawing you in to do the same thing. Hanging out with such people is  waste of your time and energy, so find people with optimistic ideals, who are happy, outgoing and actually fun to be with.

  • Work when you have the most energy.

You know how some people are morning persons? They often function best during the morning, but that doesn’t mean you’re the same. So try as much as you can to schedule your work when you’re most energetic so you actually feel productive and fulfilled.

  • Exercise

Getting physically active is not only healthy, it also improves your overall mood and disposition. Regular exercise results in the frequent release of endorphins in your body, which have a way of boosting your mood.

  • Surround yourself with motivated, goal-oriented people

You got to make your sure your team is a positive one, and focus your time with people who bring a motivated ,animated influence to your environment.

Personally speaking, I believe there is no right or wrong way to staying energized and motivated, so long as it doesn’t hurt you and those around you, then go for it! If one method works for you, then stick to it, even other people find it strange. For example, one person I know energy in a daily 10 kilometre run around her neighbourhood, while another friend prefers to just lounge around listening to rock music.

I myself to stay energized, I Master the Power Nap :) Taking a nap isn’t calling it quits on getting energized, it’s just it’s just running a quick defrag on your neural drive and rebooting.

and to stay motivated I alternate my  routine.  Nowdays, leaders or business people have a routine, for some it is a structured one and for others it’s a haphazard one but a routine nonetheless, Doing the same thing day in and day out is like starring in your own real-life version of Groundhog Day and what a sad thought that is. So if you have been doing the same routine over and over again perhaps try and change it slightly so that you can still look forward to something different each day.

Note that both techniques may not work for everyone, which means that you’ll have to do some experimentation yourself.

By taking the right approach to staying self-motivated, you can by certain to be successful no matter what you do.
