Speed Up Operating System, Protect Your Data And Enjoy Surfing
Is your operating system slow?
When I first purchased my laptop in 2010, I was enjoying the freshness. Everything was working smoothly until errors started coming.
A lot of bloggers are so concerned with writing.
They forget or neglect to protect their valuable data. If you’re doing business online, you need to take data protection into consideration.
If you accidentally lose your writing portfolio, who do you blame? In this post, I want to draw a line between speeding up your operating system, protecting your data and surfing interestingly.
Nothing annoys me like a slow-moving train which we often call PC (personal computer). There are simple steps to make it work for you. And here they’re:
1. Partition Your Hard Drive
It’s vital to the smooth running of your PC. Ideally, when you partition your hard drive; that particular storage facility on your PC, you would be able to determine errors quickly, free up decent space and inadvertently get faster computer.
Every operating system allows partition. I don’t know about Mac operating system but I’m sure of Windows. When you partition your storage tank (hard disk), one should be Local C and the other Local D.
As a blogger, a graphic designer, a programmer or researcher, don’t save any completed or uncompleted work in your Local C. They’re actually saved there in the real sense of it, but do your own to further eliminate every weight from that spot.
2. Delete Unwanted Files From “Temp” Folder
There is a folder in your Local C called “temp’ folder. Temporary means it’s not permanent. The moment you run software and install it, some files and unwanted scripts will be transferred to the folder above.
That folder is right inside the Local C.
This is the major reason why you should partition your hard disk. If you don’t do this, getting to know where these cookies and files are stored will be tedious (well, not for geeks, but for dummies). You can grab free parallels coupon, VMware coupon & Raxco coupon codes to help you save when planning on improving your PC. Also, utilize these computer performance software to scan.
Precaution: It’s vital to note that some files in this folder are useful in the long run. Often when you try to delete them, there will be a prompt; a pop up alerting you to cross-check. So, take this advice to heart, and don’t harm your PC’s operating system
3. Free Up Your Desktop
In one of our computer discussion forum, we conducted a survey to determine how many people save files on their desktop. To my amazement, 96% of participants said they like saving there. 54% will move the files from desktop to the Local D after working and 46% will just leave it there until the desktop is filled.
Wow! It’s funny, isn’t it?
Now, I’m sure that so many people reading this post have fallen into this temptation on several occasions. But it’s a bad habit.
When writing articles and designing your web pages if you’re a designer, don’t save on the desktop, simply move every file, artwork, document and folder to the Local D. That’s the right place to save. Or better still, have an external hard disk where you can transfer all the work you do.
It’s the best approach to protecting your data against malware, stubborn virus and phish-hacking (infiltrating your PC to extract delicate information).
Enjoy Surfing the Web
How do you feel when the internet is slow, web pages aren’t opening and you’ve to wait like forever to download a software?
You feel sad. Can I tell you something friend? Slow operating system affects your browsers smooth performance. This applies to all operating systems but for those who use windows operating system, Internet Explorer can be impeded.
So, speed up your PC, enjoy browsing the internet and become productive this year. Have a lovely day.

Hi Michael,
Great tips! Thanks for sharing. I can relate when you said that most people save their files, etc on their desktop because I am one of them LOL. So now I know, I will take your advise on pinning them down on my local “D”. Thanks again.

Hi Michael,
Great tips here. I’m one that keeps a very tidy computer. It’s kind of a “thing” with me.
I am also a big believer in backing up the bulky data onto external drives. This is a great way to keep the things you want to keep but without slowing down the hard drive!

Good one Michael. I would also like to add about defragmentation. One must do a defragmentation once every month at least. However, if you don’t delete and add files quite often on your system, then you may not even need to do it so often. If you are doing lots of installation and deinstallation of softwares on your system, then it is most recommended activity to speed up your system.
