In case you have ever tried searching for a weight loss program or dieting products, there’s a good chance that you will be aware of weight watchers, a company that specializes in products and services targeted for people looking to lose weight. But that’s not why I admire them, the reason I have been writing about that brand is because being an Internet Marketer, I have a penchant for companies utilizing the medium known as Internet to its fullest, and making the most of all available opportunities, and weight watchers is certainly one of those names. It always help to stand on the shoulder of giants, so doesn’t matter what’s the nature of your website or blog, the following lessons learnt from the marketing strategies will let you learn a thing of two.

The Website:

Your website, of course is the focal point of your Internet Marketing campaign. Going to their website, you will find a rather simple website packed with relevant information, starting of course from an introduction of the company, and then providing ample information on the two most important aspects of losing weight in different categories (i.e. diet and exercise). But what I liked the most is the community section; Weight Watchers have a very vibrant community at their website, with message board, blogs, groups, and some very interesting challenges to keep the readers involved. And lastly the marketplace, which is an entire section dedicated to their products that customers can purchase online.

The Social Media:

No Internet Marketing campaign is complete without making use of social media, and again, weight watchers appears quite active at all platform that matter the most. Starting from Facebook, they have their likes count reaching almost a million, different pages with a lot of activity. Same goes for the Twitter, where they have quite some following and fairly regular tweets, which are not limited to promoting their website links. Same is the case with their official page at MySpace, which has almost 20,000 friends. Weight watchers also have quite a lot of videos at their official YouTube channel, all in all, a good coverage of their brand at almost all notable social media websites.

The World Wide Web:

Weight Watchers is a well-known company, and you will see its diet plans and products being discussed at many popular news and health websites, creating quite some buzz for the brand. While some may think that it’s not something to praise them, but remember that a company has to do many things right in order to get onto the mainstream media. Besides that they are also offers an affiliate program (set up via commission junction), where affiliate marketers can join for free, providing them with another lead generation channels. You will also find many discount and coupon code websites offering coupons for weight watchers, which is again a very good promotional method.

The Apps:

Lastly, weight watchers have its own range of apps for almost all well know OS for smartphones. For example Weight Watchers Mobile, PointPlus Calculator, ProPoints Calculator, for Android, and Weight Watchers Mobile for iPhones, and many different apps for iPad as well. And these Apps are not just there for the sake of having an App, most of these apps have good number of downloads and users’ reviews. All in all, weight watchers seems to be doing quite a decent job, but the long-winded point of this post was to highlight the mufti-faceted approach, you’ve got to utilize all available options instead of getting obsessed by just few, because you never know which method will start working wonders for your online business.

  3. You are dead right, there has to be a multifaceted approach to online promotions, your website being of foremost importance. Lot of attention should be given to the organization of content of your website. I’ve seen quite a few websites where one can get baffled looking for the right piece of information.

And surely its quite significant to spread the right word about your brand through the social media. Weight Watchers is doing just that.

Thanks for drawing this great example.
