Whichever your reason is for setting up your own blog, you must definitely want your blog to get good readership and following, right? Indeed, blogging offers a lot of opportunity – but getting started with blogging is not always an easy feat.
You don’t have to worry though. Although getting started with blogging is a little tricky at first, you will surely get the hang of it. It is not a walk in the park, yes, but the struggle will end as soon as you find the right guides and assistance as well as the right tools that can help you out.
There are tons of blogs in the Internet nowadays. And there are lots of blogs focused on your intended niche, too. If you are aiming for ranking or at least quality readership and following, you should know of the basics as early as now.
Getting started with blogging 101
Decide on your nich/ what you want to Blog about?
Basically, you should determine where you want to put focus on. Sure, if you are setting up a personal blog, you can throw anything on it. However, a blog that does not have a particular focus may be no more than a virtual diary. If you want a blog that has significance, you should decide on a niche.
For instance, if you are into fashion, try to share interesting ideas, news and other what not about fashion. Meanwhile, if you are into home based business, you can start setting up a blog that aims to guide home based entrepreneurs.
Moreover, you should think of a niche that you are really interested about so you will not run out of ideas to share too often. If an industry or niche is trending today but you are not personally inclined to it, it would be best not to risk it at all.
Don’t just blog about anything. Pick a topic you are are passionate about. Something that you have lots of experience with.
Choosing a Blogging Platform
There are many choices to be made, when you decide to start your own blog. On my recent Post The best blogging platform of all time – Did you Choose Wisely? explains all the blogging platform available and recommended which blogging platform is preferred by most bloggers. The most popular blog platforms are Blogger, Typepad, and WordPress.
You want to find a Host for your blog.
you’ll need to determine whether you would prefer a hosted or non-hosted blog platform.
You probably wondering what is a Blog Hosting? basically Blog Hosting is one type of web hosting.
When deciding on a blog host, you got to decide whether you want to create a blog with free web hosting or invest in a paid blog hosting provider. These are actually depends on what your blog is about. If you’re blogging to keep in touch with your family and friend, then hen a free blog hosting service would likely be sufficient for your needs. Free blog hosts, such as Blogger and WordPress.com, offer easy-to-use interfaces that make it simple for people with limited technical skills to start blogging. There is no script installation or database configuration – as the blog software is all setup and ready for you.
- Host your own blog using WordPress free Blog software – Cheap
I would recommend that you choose this method, because it offers much more flexibility and freedom to do what you want. You will have your own domain name,
- Free Blogging Services
The Free blogging service, well its not really free. first you don’t get your own domain, and another dissadvantage with this is that you don’t own your blog. If you ever do decide to move to your own domain, you have no way to take your readers with you, because you have no control over the site.
But if you are blogging , in the hope of turn your blog into a source of supplemental income, then it’s best to invest in paid blog hosting.
Find inspiration
For your content, that is. Before you even set up your blog, ensure that you have adequate inspiration or source to sustain the flow of content. Remember that having a blog requires you to post often and you should have a consistent source of ideas to share.
Learn basic SEO
As a starter, you must be planning to manage your blog on your own. If this is the case, you should learn about basic SEO so you can manipulate your blog site in a way that follows common SEO customs.
Blog Design
You want to ensure that your blog design is user friendly and should reflect your niche and your personality. Ensure that you have plenty of white space, (the space that surrounds your graphics, text, and paragraphs). White space helps leads the eye and compartmentalize each part of your blog.
Select the best tools and systems to help you promote and support your blog site The easy way.
starting a blog will be a fairly easy choice, but if your are new to blogging this is going to be a difficult choice, as explain previous, you would need: a domain, hosting, a blog, a designer if you can’t build the blog yourself, a lead capture page, a sales funnel, and an autoresponder. Along with the autoresponder, you need an autoresponder series to market list as it develops. Having an active marketplace of blog hosting, whilst a good thing for consumer choice, also makes the decision on which form and provider of hosting to chose that much more difficult.. With so many blogs and websites out there, how is the newbie marketer going to be able to survive?
There are various tools that can help you improve and develop your blog in terms of various aspects (online visibility and popularity, efficiency, etc). Basically, new blogs do not rank high in search engines instantly even though they are enriched with the latest SEO strategies – and ranking is important. You can get significant rankings by employing efficient online tools and systems.

Thanks for the tips Easther! Newbies in the blogosphere would definitely find this useful. I wish I’ve read as informative as this when I first started. I’d also like to add that interacting with your readers regularly can help you gain more regular audience and readers. Also, you don’t have to be an expert on the niche that you choose but giving accurate and helpful information is the key to gaining trust from your readers.
