10 of the Best Blog Performance Gameplan Of All Time
On my previous post we talked about how important is Blog Ranking. Now I am going to go over the steps you need to take in order to increase, optimize your ranking on the Search Engine.
First of all, you need to register and install your blog on Alexa.com Alexa is a service that ranks websites based on information gathered from the web.
Without further ado, let’s jump right into it, shall we?
1 Ensure your Blog is Visible..
Check your privacy Setting on your Blog. The Privacy Settings control your blog’s visibility to search engines, such as Google and Technorati. The default Privacy setting was *Search Engines Blocked*. You want to make sure that your Blog is visible to the search engine. You need to select the first option.
2. Post/Blog Frequently
The best way to increase traffic is to have a continuous stream of compelling and well written content.
The best way to improve your blog rankings is by making sure that you log in and complete a blog every day. When you have daily updates of information and news, Google and other search engines recognize that and rank your site higher. If, on the other hand, your blog hasn’t been updated since 2007, even the best SEO won’t help you.
But blogging every day can be tough and I don’t do it because I’m struggling with this myself. Here are some tips for making blogging every day a little bit easier.
Develop memes and Regular Posts:
memes are shared internet content, and they often take the form of cartoons or images. But not always. You can develop memes that are basically shared posts and use them to generate content within your part of the blogosphere. I’m not sure what a pink kitten meme would look like, but it might be a regularly-changing top ten post. Since you’ll be blogging every day (that’s 7 days a week – 5 for you 9 to 5′ers), it will be handy to have a steady source of content. It will also increase links with other sites, which will improve your blog ranking.
Don’t Re-invent the Wheel
– You know why people read your blog: you provide a certain kind of content. Let’s say it’s about pink kittens. It’s a good niche topic, and your blog ranking is pretty high because there aren’t many other pink kitten blogs. When you start your campaign to blog every day, use that focus to your advantage. Cover a different aspect of pink kittens in each post. Now is not the time to get desperate and start writing about orange kittens.
3.Comment on other blogs/websites:
You probably wondering Why Should You Engage in Blog Commenting? Engaging in blog commenting is one of the best ways to increase your visibility to online readers interested in your niche. When you include your website/blog in the comment, you’ll drive traffic to your site.
Visit high-profile blogs/websites, matching with your category, visit them on a regular basis and post genuine comments on their running topics.
4.Build your Blogosphere
– The blogosphere is a wide, wide, world, but the process of blogging every day will bring you in touch with your corner of it: people engaged in the same business (network marketing, in my case), with the same interests (pink kittens for “you), with the same connections. Develop your cross-blog connections and content. Do it as you blog, every day. Interconnected sites have higher blog rankings, after all. And it feels good to be connected.
5. Guest Blogging
In it’s simplest form, guest blogging is the exchange of content from one blogger to another, for a site which the author does not own. In Order words, someone (you, perhaps?) writes content for another website and this act makes you a ‘guest blogger.’ If you’re wondering what you get in return with more specifics than the typical “exposure” response then let me give you a run-down:
-
Brings in More Visitors and Quality Traffc
There are millions of webmasters out there and they’re all competing for targeted eyeballs online. Guest blogging is not only a way to get one fundamental of the web – links – but also another fundamental: traffic. Subscribers
Subscribers are the life and soul of a blog and if you can get in front of a completely new audience on another site, it’s likely that they’re going to subscribe to your feed.
-
Increase Page Rank by having Back Links
If you want rankings on Google, you need banklinks. There are various ways to get links back to you website. Guest blogging is a fairly easy way to get custom anchor-text, high quality one way back links to your website.
-
Branding
Brand is so much important, specially if you are selling a product or service, you need a brand. By publishing your content on other people’s authority sites you can help other people become acquainted to your brand and hence build a reputation on the internet.
6. RSS Feed Submission:
It is the quickest way of giving the website updates to your visitors. Making sure your blog and RSS feed are included in niche categories and collections of blogs can be a positive signal to search engines as well as to long tail users. It helps search engines to easily crawl all link available in RSS feed. It is useful for fast indexing.
7. Develop social networks
Develop social networks and share your content. But be of value to others and they will be a value to you by promoting your content and attracting links
8. Submit blog post To Social bookmarking site
Digg, Stumbleupon and Reddit, are three of the major players and you need to submit your blog post. They are a greate SEO, because they alert the search of your new post. Doing this manual can be time consuming, but there is a service that allows you to submitt your content to multiple social bookmarking site all at once, such as OnlyWire.
9. Ping Your Post to Drive More Traffic.
As you are aware by now that if your site does not show up on the search engine, you are unlikely to benefit from all the free traffic the search engines will reward you for providing fresh content. Pinging your content are a way to notify the big sites like Google and Technorati, etc, every time you put new content out on the web, so it is very important to ping each post you make. There are many, many ping sites and the more you notify, the better. If you are using a word press, it is easy to ping your content, because all you have to do is put in the ping list and it will ping your content automatically.
10 Distribute Press Release
One of sure-fire way to get your business known is by using a press release. Press releases if written properly can go viral. Make sure when writting your presslease, that your content is newsworthy and compelling and submit them to a press releases website, such as PRweb.com
Now is your turn..What linking tactics for blogs have you found to be most effective? What challenges are you facing in attracting other sites to link to your blog?

not doing much..but now I am getting back to it.
Some very valuable content here Easther and I just happen to be a big fan of guest blogging.
Not only is it a great way to share your brand, it’s also very time effective to post guests articles when you don’t have time to write one of your own.

You’re welcome Dev
Good suggestions Easther. However, you need to get traffic from whatever sources your customers or readers come from. Another point to remember is that your posts have to be original and not another article on a topic everybody else writes about. That is if you want Google’s algorithm to favour you. Seems they got tired of people writing for search engines.
Hi Easther,
Great blog post you got here! You listed some great tips and insights here. Thanks for that! Keep it up!
Welcome to my Blog PJ, hope to see you more here

Hi Easther,
great list! Like others here, I have been doing some of these things but certainly not all… good to have some new tips to try out
Hi Easther,
Great list! I am so glad you mentioned the privacy settings of WP. That goes overlooked by many people, those of us who are not as tech savvy. It will make a huge difference in your overall rankings and is absolutely necessary.
Thanks for sharing Easther and have a great day!

Hi Easter,
This is a great list, any serious blogger should definitely be following the steps that you outlined here! I’ve been amazed to see the comments coming into some of my posts before I have a chance to manually promote a post. The RSS feed, pinging, and onlywire options are a big help with that!

That’s a great check list. I’m not embarrassed to admit that I have fallen at the first hurdle.
I can imagine some of your readers wondering who would be stupid enough to set their blog to “private” – but I have actually done this. To be fair, it was, as I think you mentioned, the default (and it was some time ago when I was young and foolish).
I think it took me about three weeks to work out why I wasn’t getting any visitors to my wonderfully crafted blog posts! You live and learn I suppose! Wish I’d had your checklist then.

Thanks for visiting and commenting Hamish, I hope to see around here more

I love your game plan Easther. What service do you use for Press Releases? I’ve been avoiding press releases because the major services seem very expensive.
Your first suggestion seems like common sense but close to two years ago I started a couple of new niche blogs and thought I had everything set. I was getting no where with search traffic. I don’t know if it was just me or not but I think for a short time WordPress had it’s privacy setting to “private’ by default for new installs. It was a bit embarrassing but now that’s one of the first things I check. I lost a lot of ground on those blogs when I needed to start ranking in fresh keywords that was hitting the news. Live and learn I guess.

Thanks for the tips! There are truly a lot of ways to improve a blog or even a website’s page rank and I would say that the most common that they use as of the moment is using social networking websites for more exposure.
