YSEOou probably heard the phrase, “content is king,” more than too often, especially when you want to build up your site’s ranking. You might even have stumbled upon numerous ways how get it done, and search engine optimization is among of them. If the word SEO is new to you and you don’t have any help from high-level SEO experts, you may find this task daunting. However, if you know the “basics” of SEO you can always be certain that you will have good website traffic.

What exactly is Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)?

SEO is a technique which helps search engines find and rank your site higher than the millions of other sites in response to a search query. SEO thus helps you get traffic from search engines.

This marketing strategy is more powerful, this is because People click more on organically optimized websites.  You can Pay google or Yahoo to get a good possition on the search result.  But then, if search engines are meant to show results according to relevancy of the found pages, why do you need to pay for the placement? right?  Therefore poepl don’t really trust website that pay to appear on the search engine, that means that your content is so avarange that you have to pay to be found.

Quality and unique content = Good SEO

In order for your content to be found, you need to do your keyword research before anything else!

When someone visits your webpage, they always look for content. You may have an eye-catching site or homepage, but that will only keep your visitors for a couple of seconds. If they can’t find what they’re looking for, they’ll immediately leave your page. You don’t need to have catchy phrases and titles on your articles just to keep your visitors from reading your articles. What matters is the message and content that is delivered is clear, accurate and informative. You need to write for your users. Although search engines have powerful bots that crawl into the web, they don’t buy anything online: your users do. They are the ones who will sign up for a newsletter or pick the phone to avail of your products and services. When you create web pages, you need to think of your customers always.

Relevant HTML title and meta description tags

Your page should have a relevant title, unless you want it to be tagged as a spam. Your article title should be catchy and have at least one relevant keyword. The page HMTL title is the single most SEO on-page factor. It tells your user what to expect when they click on your page. If you have 100 books and you wrote the same title, or they aren’t descriptive, you can’t expect anyone to know what those books are all about. This goes the same with page titles. You need to be have unique and descriptive titles in order for search engines to understand what the page is all about. Meta description tags should also include your keywords. Although it can’t help build your rank, but it appears as text snippet allowing searchers to click on your listings.  “Click here” link doesn’t contribute to search engine optimization. Instead of using hyperlinks, use anchor text to help the search engine spiders determine what the link is all about. I will be doing a quick video on how to create a Keyword Rich Content, so watch out for it :)

Accessibility and “Crawlability”

Search engines love to “crawl” into various web sites, going from one page to another, at an incredible speed. They store copies of your pages as “indexes,” which can be compared again as a big book. When someone searches for a keyword, search engines flip through this big book and select the ones with best content to show first. So, in order for your web site to be found, you have to be “indexed” in this book. And to be indexed, your site must be accessible to search engine “crawlers.” Most of web sites crawling issues can be prevented by having sitemaps on your webpage.
