PinterestPinterest could be called the creative side of social networking. Pinterest is a virtual bulletin board that lets you collect, organize and share your interests with other like-minded people across the web. The site is free and easy to use; it allows you to follow and comment on bulletin boards you find interesting. Pinterest can be useful for both private individuals and businesses, including for driving traffic to your site. These ideas can help you start drawing traffic from your pin board to your website.

#1: Attach Links

Every pin lets you attach a link to it; therefore, you can use each picture or video you post to drive traffic directly to your site. Concentrate your efforts by learning about your target audience. If necessary, create more than one board so you can target your efforts to more than one type of interest.

 #2: Use Different Languages

Use Pinterest’s multi-language capability to reach a broader audience. Find a program that lets you translate your primary language into others to communicate with individuals who would otherwise not visit your board.

 #3: Create Focus Groups

When you create a focus group, you can better control and track the flow of traffic to your site from Pinterest. This can also help you develop a more continuous, steady flow of traffic. As more and more individuals discover your pin board and then your website, they will tell your friends about them, further boosting your traffic to each.

#4: Use Other Means of Access

Another great way to drive additional traffic to your website using Pinterest is to combine it with other social media sources. Pinterest has an add-on as well as a “like” feature that can be used in collaboration with your Twitter or Facebook accounts. You may also want to advantage of Pinterest mobile features that allow you to stay connected on the go via your smartphone.

 #5: Be a Great Follower

It is said that all great leaders are also great followers. If you want to learn how the major players on social media sites like Pinterest became successful, follow them and occasionally participate on their boards. Remember, in the war for traffic, knowledge is power. Do not be afraid to explore new ideas.

 #6: Promote Your Products

Promoting the products on Pinterest that you sell on your website can help spark the attention of interested visitors. Instead of posting generic promos, try using unique and educational information to catch people’s attention

 #7: Promote Intangibles

If you are selling a service on your website and not a physical product, take pictures of satisfied customers using your service to promote this aspect of your business. Make sure you have permission from these people to use their image.

 #8: Advertise for Further Opportunities

If you are having difficulty finding enough people who will allow you to use their images, consider advertising a special offer in which you give customers a discount if they agree to appear in your Pinterest media.

#9: Think Outside the Box

Pinterest is all about creativity, so do not hold back when posting media. The rules of traditional advertising, to a large extent, do not apply. Think outside the box and do not be afraid to ask more experienced Pinterest users for ideas. No matter which route you take, use each pin as an opportunity to gain one more visitor to your site.

 #10: Talk to Your Visitors

Do not just post a pin; add a remark that includes additional details and gives your followers a reason why they should click through to your site.

    Hi Peter and Easther,

This is a great topic because I have yet to really take the time to understand Pinterest. I haven’t spent much time there, it kind of makes me nervous actually.

I’ve heard how people are getting in trouble by pinning images of things they’ve found online they think are cool so I just decided not to go overboard because it’s not that important you know.

But, I know it’s one of the most popular sites for driving traffic to your blog and I really need to get on top of this so this post was very helpful. Thank you so much for sharing this and now all I have to do is start implementing some of what you’ve shared. The talking to visitors part, very easy for me to do. :-)

    Wish me luck.
